2015 Chrysler 200 Earns 5-Star Safety Rating from NHTSA

The Chrysler 200 has been reimagined for the 2015 model year, complete with new, segment-exclusive safety technology that helped the model earn a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA. The high rating comes on the heels of the 2015 Chrysler 200's IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

It's thanks to available features like collision-warning and anti-rollaway and a body structure comprised of nearly 65 percent hot-stamped, high-strength, advanced high-strength, and boron steels, that the 2015 Chrysler 200 earned the latest honors from NHTSA. The 200 scored five stars in all of the NHTSA's tests except rollover, where it scored four.

The new Chrysler 200 launched earlier this year with a starting price of $22,695, complete with a new exterior design and more upscale interior. The 200's segment-first standard nine-speed automatic transmission returns up to 36 mpg on the highway. Other safety features available on the 200 include full-speed forward collision warning plus, ParkSense rear backup sensors, ParkView rear backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, and Rear Cross Path Detection. In all, the 2015 Chrysler 200 offers around 60 safety and security features. Though NHTSA recognizes advanced safety features like forward collision warning, it doesn't factor them into its ratings. Such features are required for IIHS Top Safety Pick+ consideration, however.
