News - Live updates: Arkansas at Auburn

 Auburn kicks off the 2014 season with an SEC match-up against Arkansas.


Jeremy Johnson will start at quarterback for the Tigers, but when will we see Nick Marshall? We'll find out today at Jordan-Hare Stadium, where a sold-out crowd is expected to be on hand for the 3 p.m. CT kickoff on the SEC Network.

FINAL


Cameron Artis-Payne's career game, a strong start from quarterback Jeremy Johnson and a strong relief appearance from Nick Marshall, leads Auburn to a 45-21 victory in the season opener against Arkansas.


FOURTH QUARTER


- Corey Grant caps a nice, clock-chewing drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. Auburn went 85 yards on eight plays. The drive spanned 4:45. Auburn 45, Arkansas 21 (3:15)


- The weather delay spanned 1 hour, 28 minutes. We're underway here at 7:20 p.m. CT. Auburn still leading 38-21 with 9:55 remaining in regulation.


- The teams will take the field at 7:10 p.m. to warm up and play will resume at 7:20 p.m. CT, according to an announcement here inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.


- Play will resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike is detected 8 miles away, according to an SEC official.


- Daniel Carlson drills a 45-yard field goal to give Auburn a 38-21 lead, and then the referee tells us lightning is approaching the area. Game temporarily suspended. Auburn 38, Arkansas 21 (9:55)


THIRD QUARTER


- Robenson Therezie drills Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen and Jermaine Whitehead picks up the wobbly pass and returns the interception 32 yards for a touchdown. Therezie, by the way, was cleared to play Friday night.  Auburn 35, Arkansas 21 (2:39)


- Auburn first drive with Nick Marshall at quarterback results in a touchdown. Marshall's 19-yard run gives the Tigers the lead. That's a nine-play, 78-yard drive with 46 yards coming on the ground. Receiver Melvin ray made a great, one-handed catch on a bad pass from Marshall for 28 yards to help move the drive along. Auburn 28, Arkansas 21 (10:42)


- Nick Marshall at quarterback to start the second half.


HALFTIME


- Gus Malzahn on SEC Network: "We've got to stop the run. That's what stands out to me." He feels Auburn will be fine on offense in second half.


- Malzahn on whether Jeremy Johnson will start at quarterback in the second half: "We'll see. We'll talk about it once we get into halftime."


Auburn finishes the first half with 311 yards, including 243 through the air. Arkansas had 267 yards, including 151 on the ground.


- Jeremy Johnson 12-of-16 passing for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He completed his first eight passes.


- D'haquille Williams led the way with seven catches for 138 yards and one touchdown in his Auburn debut.


- Cameron Artis-Payne averaged 3.9 yards per carry to go for 55 yards on 14 carries. Auburn's running game is averaging only 3.8 yards per carry.


- Alex Collins led Arkansas' rushing attack with 70 yards on only six carries. Quarterback Brandon Allen was 9-of-14 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns -- both to tight ends.


SECOND QUARTER


- Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson's 42-yard field goal as time expires bounces off the right goal post. Ugly end to the first half for the defending SEC champions. Arkansas 21, Auburn 21 (Halftime)


- Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams' 6-yard touchdown run looked easy once again. Auburn's defensive line is getting no push and the Razorbacks are executing their game plan with relatively ease on offense. Hogs went 93 yards on only 10 plays. Arkansas 21, Auburn 21 (4:28)


- Brandon Allen hits AJ Derby for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Arkansas' tight ends getting open today and Auburn's defense not getting much pressure on the quarterback. Auburn 21, Arkansas 14 (11:06)


- Jeremy Johnson caps a seven-play, 98-yard drive with an 18-yard strike to D'haquille Williams in the middle of the field. Williams powered through a would-be tackler near the goal line to complete the play. Johnson is now 8-for-8 passing for 204 yards and two touchdowns.Auburn 21, Arkansas 7 (13:20)


FIRST QUARTER


- Auburn ends the first quarter on Arkansas' 15. Johnson was 7-for-7 passing for 186 yards and 1 touchdown. His rating is at 370.3, per Auburn


- Two drives, two touchdowns for Jeremy Johnson. Johnson hits tight end C.J. Uzomah across the middle of the field for a 26-yard gain. Cameron Artis-Payne caps the six-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown. Tigers match Arkansas' six-play, 75-yard drive with one of its own -- in 2 minutes, 43 seconds. Auburn 14, Arkansas 7 (4:01)


- Arkansas pushed Auburn's defensive line around on that drive and marched right down the field. Arkansas picked up 61 yards on four straight carries. Tight end Hunter Henry ended the drive with a wide-open catch for a touchdown. The 14-yard pass from Brandon Allen ties the game. Arkansas 7, Auburn 7 (6:44)


- Cornerback Jonathon Mincy's suspension ends on the second drive. He's in at boundary corner for Auburn.


- Jeremy Johnson hits Melvin Ray on a 49-yard pass to give Auburn a 7-0 lead with 9:58 remaining. Auburn 7, Arkansas 0 (9:58)


- Arkansas started the game with a three-and-out on offense.
