Annexed Microsoft, Nokia Employees How fate?
Nokia's main business units, namely devices and services division,
certain to be taken over by Microsoft. This shocking news was
announced by Microsoft on Tuesday (09/03/2013) this.
Microsoft had to spend 5.44 billion euros ($ 81.2 billion) for its
plan to acquire Nokia's main business. In addition to their two
business units, Microsoft is also entitled to a patent license,
property, and employees of Nokia.
Once annexed Microsoft, how about the thousands of other Nokia employees?
As quoted from AllThingsD, as part of the agreement, approximately
32,000 Nokia employees planned to be transferred to Microsoft. Around
18,300 employees of whom are directly involved in the manufacture of
the products and services of Microsoft.
This means, not all Nokia moved to Microsoft employees. A total of
56,000 employees will remain under the management of Nokia Group and
worked for three business units that are not purchased Microsoft, the
digital map and location services; telecommunications network
infrastructure and services, as well as technology development.
Nokia Group itself maintains its headquarters in Espoo, Finland.
Several Nokia executives will likely be transferred to Microsoft,
including Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, Jo Harlow, Juha Putkiranta, Timo
Toikkanen, and Chris Weber. They are the big names that have been
caring for Nokia devices and services business.
Stephen Elop, who served as CEO of Nokia since September 2010, had to
remove his post. He will work for Microsoft and served as Vice
President of Devices and Services Division Business Unit Nokia annexed
Microsoft.
